Policy good editorial practices, gender equality, sexual and cultural ethnic diversity

CONCEPTUAL DEFINITION

  • Gender equality: can encompass aspects of gender, class, race, etc. ‘When we use the term ‘gender’ we refer to identities (male, female, non-binary, etc.) and socially constructed roles.
  • Sexual diversity: focuses on sexual orientation (heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, etc.). . Although ‘sexual diversity’ is often interpreted within LGTBIQ+ issues, ‘gender’ as an analytical and political category is not the same.
  • Ethnic-cultural diversity: refers to the plurality of cultures, nationalities, ethnicities, etc.
ASRI. Art and Society. Research magazine in Digital Art and Humanities defends United Nations principles of equal opportunities and respect between men and women, publishing scientific papers without making a distinction of gender. It also recommends the use of inclusive language in the submitted papers. It also recognizes sexual diversity and different races and cultures.

To carry out these equality policies, we carry out these specific actions:

  • Make a more egalitarian publication between men, women and non-binary individuals based on the principles established by the equality unit of the URJC created in 2010 to comply with Organic Law 3/2007, of March 22.   • Maintenance of a balance of more than 40% of women in the percentage of participation of women, men and non-binary individuals that make up the Management bodies, Guest Editors, Editorial Board and Advisory Board.
  • Make a more diverse and inclusive publication, which is why the URJC belongs to the Network of Universities for Diversity and has created a sexual and cultural ethnic diversity unit.
  • We maintain a percentage, at least 40% of women as reviewers of the works sent to the journal.
  • Use inclusive language in communications with the authors of scientific articles and request that they also comply.
  • The journal must include the full names of all authors in every published work.
  • Starting in 2025, ASRI requires authors to report and indicate in their research findings whether the data used take into account the subjects' sex, with the aim of identifying potential significant differences.
