ASRI Call for Papers #33: Feminist Rewritings of the Artistic Narrative. Genealogies, Memory, and Experiences of Confinement in the 20th and 21st Centuries
Dear colleagues,
As editors of Issue No. 33 of ASRI. Art and Society. Research Journal, we are pleased to invite you to contribute to the special issue “Feminist Rewritings of the Artistic Narrative: Genealogies, Memory, and Experiences of Confinement in the 20th and 21st Centuries,” which will be published in 2027.
This special issue proposes a multidisciplinary analysis of the relationship between women artists, memory, and experiences of marginalization—whether physical, symbolic, or social—in the art of the 20th and 21st centuries. The issue is structured around the coordination of two complementary lines of research: one focused on the study of experiences of confinement and isolation in the 20th and 21st centuries, and another centered on genealogies, memory, and the critical rewriting of the artistic narrative from feminist perspectives, linked to the research project A Problem at the Root (Institute for Women). Those interested can find more information on the topic and the proposed lines of inquiry here.
The issue will be published in ASRI, the open-access and entirely free research journal of Rey Juan Carlos University, aimed at researchers and artists in the fields of art, cultural studies, and visual studies.
Important dates:
- Submission deadline: October 31, 2026.
- Publication date of the monograph: March 31, 2027.
We look forward to receiving your contributions and send our best wishes,
Susana Gámez, Laura Soto, Jésica Domínguez, and Carmen Sousa.
Special Issue Coordinators.
